The “Daves of Wine & Roses” is the featured jazz ensemble at the jazz vespers of the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration, on Stenton Avenue, Sunday, October 19th at 4:30 p.m.
Jazz Vespers are held at 4:30 pm on the third Sunday of each month. There is a ten dollar donation requested and a reception afterward with refreshments. Restoration Church is located at 6900 Stenton Avenue (at the corner of Gorgas Lane) in Philadelphia. For more information, email: uucr-jazzvespers@verizon.net or call: 215-910-2404. The “Daves of Wine & Roses” include: Dave Haas (saxophone), Dave Turanski (bass), Dave “Bopdrummer” Yager (drums), and Dave Graves (piano, accordion). Each of the Daves is an artist in his own right. Daves Turanski and Yager are frequently heard as members of Andrea Carlson’s Love Police, while Dave Haas performs regularly as a member of the Art Fischman Jazz Quintet, and Dave Graves as a member of the oh-so-retro Gin Canaries. The only one not named “Dave”, Jim Cohen has been affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration since 1986 where he is a member of the UUCR Choir (led by his wife, the lovely and talented, Jane Hulting), and a member of the UUCR’s “Band from Hale”.
