Dolan Fund Joins the National #GivingTuesday Movement to Encourage Spending with a Purpose

Philadelphia, PA – The Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund (KADMF) has joined #GivingTuesday, a first of its kind effort that harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners – charities, families, businesses and individuals – to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

KADMF joined #GivingTuesday hoping to change how people think about their philanthropy. The Fund’s goal this year is to increase participation in their Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program, a program that matches generous sponsors with families caring for seriously ill, injured and disabled children. Because of the additional costs associated their child’s care, many families find their budgets stretched to the limit, and are unable to provide a nice holiday for their children. This program helps. The KADMF #GivingTuesday goal of increasing participation in the Holiday Program can only be accomplished with the help of the sponsors. Anyone can participate – businesses, organizations, families, individuals. People can sponsor a family, simply provide a gift card, or make a donation.

Peggy Dolan, executive director of KADMF noted, “#GivingTuesday has already inspired over 1,400 organizations and people in the U.S. and the world! This is a wonderful initiative to bring attention to the giving season. For the Fund, #GivingTuesday lets us drive home the importance of charitable giving and the positive effect it has on their local community, especially the families in crisis that we serve. Last year we provided holiday assistance to 245 families. We hope we can serve even more families this year, and we feel the #GivingTuesday initiative will help us achieve that goal.”
