DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT DEREK FORBES!

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the iconic hit “Don’t You Forget About Me”, which was the theme song in the ‘80s cult film The Breakfast Club, Simple Minds Bassist Derek Forbes has announced a U.S. East Coast tour with Philadelphia rockers John McNutt and friends. As part of this tour, he will be making a special appearance at the 7165 Lounge on October 4.

Forbes and McNutt, who performed together in the late ‘80s and ‘90s and Spear of Destiny, after Forbes’ departure from the Simple Minds, remained friends over the years and always promised that when the time was right that they would in fact erform again.

When the 30th anniversary of the Breakfast Club movie became such a “buzz” in Hollywood, the two decided the time was now.

“Derek and I have always wanted to put together a fun tour for the fans,” said McNutt, the lead guitar player. “And with all of the talk about the anniversary of the Breakfast Club, we thought “Let’s do it now!”

Forbes was the bassist and songwriter on 12 of the Simple Minds’ most popular records and also performed on the hit song “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” that reached #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Top Rock Tracks.

Meanwhile, in the states, McNutt has made quite a career for himself as a session musician and lead guitarist for the Mile High Club. He recently toured with Michael Allman as Allman’s backing band and performs at high profile venues including casinos, theaters and clubs.

The Derek Forbes and John McNutt Band features other Philadelphia musicians including drummer Marc Iezzi, and keyboard player Tim McKinstry.

The tour has been running for five weeks and highlighted dates are listed below.
