Driver, 4 And 9 Year Old Kids Injured In Mt Airy Shooting Friday

Two children, ages 4 and 9, were hurt when gunfire sent shattered glass flying inside a vehicle they were riding in early Friday evening.

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — Two children were injured when bullet struck the vehicle they were riding in on Friday, Philadelphia Police said.

According to police, a 25-year-old man was driving with his 26-year-old girlfriend in the passenger seat and two children, ages 4 and 9, in the back seat in the area of Wadsworth Avenue and Anderson Streets at about 4:55 p.m. Aug. 2.

Whil driving, about four gunshots rang out, police said.

The car's back window was hit by gunfire and the driver's back was grazed by a bullet, police said.

The two children suffered minor cuts and scratches from broken glass and were taken to a hospital but released. Police said woman was not harmed.

Police are investigating the shooting.
