UPDATE: Alma Mater Under New Management After Repeated Health Code Violations

"Alma Mater is very much open under new management," the landlord tells Patch.

An East Mount Airy restaurant that was reportedly closed due to repeated health violations has already reopened under new management, landlord David Fellner told Patch.

Alma Mater, which opened a year ago, failed seven health inspections and was ordered to temporarily close three times in September, according to a report by the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Inquirer reported Tuesday the establishment had permanently closed, but Fellner says "Alma Mater is very much open under new management. The facility has undergone a thorough cleaning."

In fact, he says the restaurant will be airing the vice presidential debate Tuesday on a large screen.

On Sept. 25, after the Court of Common Pleas ordered the restaurant to stop serving for another 48 hours, their landlord changed the locks, the Inquirer said.
