73rd Annual Members Exhibition
When the original-forming members of the American Color Print Society [ACPS] met in 1939 they were artist revolutionaries. Their first show, in 1940, heralded the arrival of the modern American print. Previously printmaking had usually been restricted to black and white etchings, at least in regard to juried shows. Finally there was critical recognition and acceptance of color.
The original 85 artists opened printmaking to color and encouraged experimentations which today has become part of American Art tradition: the use of color in lithography, block printing, etching, intaglio, monotype and computer art; and creativity has been further extended to materials and techniques in multiple combinations.
The 73rd ACPS annual exhibition showcases our member artists from a national perspective, as well as the Philadelphia area; exhibited artwork will arrive from all areas of the United States.
