Gross (The Gross Clinic), 1875.  Thomas Eakins.  Gift of the Alumni Association to Jefferson Medical College in 1878 and purchased by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2007 with the generous support of more than 3,600 donors, 2007.

 

The exhibition is made possible by Joan and John Thalheimer, by the Robert J. Kleberg, Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation, by The Pew Charitable Trusts, and by Wachovia, a Wells Fargo Company.  The conservation of Thomas Eakins' "The Gross Clinic," and the related documentary, were generously supported by The Richard C. von Hess Foundation.
