First Friday Open House & Flax Seed Planting

Community Event! First Friday Open House and Flax Seed Planting at the Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust from 2pm-6pm, Friday, September 4

Germantown Mennonite Historic Trust, at 6133 Germantown Avenue, will host an Open House and Flax Seed Planting event on Friday, September 4, from 2-6pm.

Stop by for a tour of the Historic Meetinghouse beginning at 2pm. Check out their new displays or pick up a Historic Germantown Passport, which can be used to visit all sixteen sites in Historic Germantown over the course of one year.

From 3-5pm, plant some flax seeds in the brand new raised beds on the Meetinghouse grounds, and take home a seedling of your own! GMHT Tenant and Master Gardener Emily Grusky will offer guidance, and garden tours will also be available.

GMHT is a proud member of Historic Germantown and a grant from Germantown United CDC provided resources for planting historic flax on the Meetinghouse grounds. To learn more about Germantown’s early settlers and their role in the weaving industry, visit http://www.meetinghouse.info and click on “Our History”.

GMHT neighbors at Wyck (6026 Germantown Ave) are also hosting their Farmers Market from 2-6pm, so be sure to stop by and see them too!
