Here's this week's installment of our Grab & Go Kids Planner, which documents upcoming family- and kid-friendly activities in the Northwest.

Native American Crafts at Chestnut Hill Library

-Where/When: Chestnut Hill Branch, 8711 Germantown Ave, on Saturday at 2pm

-Why Go: Children will learn about power animals and tribal teachings in relation to Mother Earth's different wonders and create crafts with Wendy Logan, a member of the Powhatan Renape Nation.

Allen’s Lane Art Classes for Children with Cornelia Kietzman

-Where/When: Allen’s Lane Art Center, 601 West Allens Lane, new 8-session classes beginning Sunday. Classes include “Introduction to the Arts” for pre-schoolers and “kids” of all ages from 2-3pm, “Introduction to Ceramics” for ages 13 and up from 2-4pm, and “Introduction to the Wheel (ceramics)” for ages 13 and up from 2-4pm.

-Why Go: A hands-on exploration of making art for little ones, and a small-class setting for older children who want to learn how to work with clay.

NatureYoga for Kids with Deirdre Kilkenny
-Where/When:
Mt. Airy Yoga, 610 Carpenter Lane, on Monday from 3:45-4:30pm for ages 4-7 and 4:45-5:30pm for ages 8-12.

-Why Go: Kids gain self-confidence and awareness while becoming more fit. Yoga improves physical performance and can help with learning and sleep.

Circus Arts Classes for Children

-Where/When: Philadelphia School of Circus Arts, 5900 Greene St.; new six, ten, and twelve-week  classes begin Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for children ranging in age from one to teens.

-Why Go: A unique chance to have fun while learning to perform circus arts, including aerial skills, rope climbing, trapeze, juggling, balancing, and tumbling in age-appropriate classes.

Open Mic at Mugshots

-Where/When: Mugshots Coffeehouse, 110 Cotton St., on Wednesday at 7:30pm.

-Why Go: Play a song, read a poem, tell a story! Adam Monaco hosts this fun event for the whole family.
