Grab & Go Kids Planner: Circus Acts and CSI Egypt

A look at family-friendly activities in the Northwest.

Here's this week's installment of our , which documents upcoming family- and kid-friendly activities in the Northwest. The planner will now run on Mondays.

As always, all addresses below are in Philadelphia.

Baze and His Silly Friends, Treehouse ROCKS! Family Entertainment Series
- Where/When: Little Treehouse, 10 West Gravers Lane, Saturday from 6 to 6:45 p.m., with guaranteed dinner seating either before or after the show.
- Why Go: Baze will bring his entire band for a night of fun.
- Pricing: $5 adults, $15 children (includes Treehouse Kid’s Meal: entrée, side and drink). Reservations required and include scheduled dinner seating time: 215-247-3637

CSI Egypt at Chestnut Hill Library
- Where/When: Chestnut Hill library branch, 8711 Germantown Ave., Tuesday at 4 p.m.
- Why Go: According to the library website: "Modern crime scene investigation is sometimes very similar to the methods used by archaeologists as they try to gather clues about how ancient people lived. This presentation will look at the famous discovery of King Tut's tomb, as well as the speaker's own field work to demonstrate how careful archaeological detective work slowly builds us a picture of ancient Egypt, often one small clue at a time. The Outreach Lecture Program is funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania's Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology."

Earth Day with Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP) at the Schuylkill Center
- Where/When: 8480 Hagys Mill Road, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; rain date Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
- Why Go: To celebrate Earth Day a little early at The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. Entertainment and lunch will be provided between noon and 1:30 p.m.. This is also an opportunity for families to volunteer on the Schuylkill Center's Restoration Project—they can do so from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Children’s activities include a scavenger hunt, guided nature hike and pond exploration, building and decorating birdhouses, and a trash-to-treasure project.
- Pricing: $10 for adults, $5 for children. RSVP to Stephanie Everett-Johnson via email by April 13. RSVPs are not required but are appreciated.

Baby Play Group at The Nesting House
- Where/When: The Nesting House, 606 Carpenter Lane, on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon.
- Why Go: Meet other parents and babies ages six to 12 months in the neighborhood.
- Pricing: Free

Philadelphia School of Circus Arts “Green Fairy Cabaret”
- Where/When: Kimmel Center's Hamilton Garden, 300 S. Broad St.,
Thursday through Sunday at 10 p.m.; family-friendly show for kids of all ages at
noon Saturday and Sunday.
- Why Go: Watch as circus performers present aerial and acrobatic feats intended to remind you of 1900s Paris.
- Pricing: $16 to $20; senior/student discounts available.
