Helicopter In Mt. Airy-Chestnut Hill Was Surveying PECO Equipment: Report

No need to fear, as PECO officials confirmed they had a helicopter out examining lines and equipment to ensure service is uninterrupted.

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA – If you live or work in the Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill areas, you likely saw the low-flying helicopter buzzing over your home or workplace recently.

Residents were a little unnerved by the looming whirlybird, as people in the area had no idea what the aircraft was up to.

Since those residents expressed curiosity and concern over potential nefarious activity, the Philly Voice cleared any confusion by doing some digging.

Staff writer Brian Hickey reports the helicopter was part of PECO's annual equipment and line survey.

"It gives us different vantage points so we can document any conditions of concern and relay it back to the repair crews," a PECO representative told the Voice. "We do this annually along 1,000 miles of lines in PECO’s service area."
