Man Kills Wife With Crossbow In Philadelphia: Police

A 42-year-old woman died Sunday after being shot with a crossbow, Philadelphia Police say.

Philadelphia, PA — A 40-year-old man is in custody after police say he shot and killed his wife with a crossbow Sunday night.

Police say Pamela Nightlinger, 42, was shot in the chest with a crossbow inside the couple's Willits Road home in Northeast Philadelphia.

NBC10 reports Nightlinger was found by neighbors in a pool of blood, and authorities later determined her fatal injuries were caused by a crossbow shot.

The man, who the station reports has a history of domestic violence that has prompted numerous visits to the home by police, has been taken into custody.

He has not yet been identified.

The incident happened around 9:20 p.m. in Northeast Philadelphia. When police arrived, the victim and witnesses told police what had happened, according to authorities. Nightlinger was rushed to Aria Health Torresdale but later succumbed to her injuries about an hour later.

The suspect's identity will be released upon completion of charging and processing, police said.
