Man Sought For Arson In Chestnut Hill

Police said the man seen here broke into a Germantown Avenue property and setting a fire inside it earlier this month.

CHESTNUT HILL, PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man who broke into a Chestnut Hill property and set a fire.

According to police, the man seen above broke into a property on the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue at about 1 a.m. on Nov. 2.

He got into the property through the roof door and after getting inside he unplugged the surveillance system.

At 1:21 am, police and firefighters responded to the property for a fire alarm activation.

Upon arrival, they found a gas odor and kitchen gas appliances on.

There was also a fire in the hallway which had been burning but was extinguished by the sprinkler system.

Two computers were found on the roof by the door, as well.

Police described the suspect as a white man, 18 to 26 years old, standing 5 feet eight inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build.

He was wearing blue jeans, gray hooded sweatshirt, and a white baseball cap with a red brim with the letter "P" on it.
