Mt. Airy Pizzerias Hit With Health Code Violations
More than 45 total violations were found at Fino's and Evo Brick Oven Pizza in the Mt. Airy area.

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA – Two Mt. Airy-area pizzerias have been hit with 47 combined health code violations, with 15 of the 47 being serious violations, according to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. The two businesses were slapped with the violations between May 11 and May 31 for "unacceptable" conditions or "imminent health hazards."
According to the department, Fino's Pizzeria at 6784 Germantown Ave. was hit with 13 violations, three being considered serious.
Some of the violations included a food safety person not being present; an empty paper towel dispenser; and cooked garlic in oil being held at hazardous temperature.

The pizzeria was asked to close temporarily on May 31 until it is approved by the department to resume operations.
Fino's will have a hearing on June 8 with the Court of Common Please.

Also hit with violations and ordered to close temporarily was Evo Brick Oven Pizza at 277 W. Mount Pleasant Ave.
According to the department, the pizzeria was slapped with 34 violations, 12 of which were serious.
Violations include mouse droppings found in food prep areas, clean utensils, and food; black residue and pink slime observed on the interior of the ice machine bin in basement area.; pizza held at hazardous temperatures; employees observed not wearing or wearing ineffective hair restraints; and more.
The pizzeria was ordered to close for two days on May 16 and reopened May 18.
