Police Blotter: A Burglary and an Assault

The following information has been supplied by the 14th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Burglary …  A resident of the unit block of East Mermaid Lane reported Nov. 3, 9:30 a.m., that someone forced entry into the back, basement door of his home and two laptops and an iPod, with a combined value of $2,050, were missing, said.

Retail theft …  The owner of , 8628 Germantown Avenue, reported Nov. 3, 6:10 p.m., that a man took a pair of Nike turf shoes, value at $90, and left without paying, police said.

Aggravated assault … Two men reported a confrontation Oct. 31, 9 p.m., at Germantown and Southampton avenues, when a group of young men approached them from behind after having “exchanged words”, according to police, and attacked the two victims. Police said the first man was punched and kicked to the ground and the other was hit on the side of his head. The victims described four young men, between the ages of 17 and 19 years old, police said.
