Stenton Area Barbershop Robbed At Gunpoint: Philadelphia Police

Two men came into the shop and held up the people inside. The pair got away with more than $860 and a smart phone.

PHILADELPHIA – Police are reporting an armed robber hit a Stenton-area business recently, prompting police to issue an alert in hopes of the public identifying the suspects.

Philadelphia Police said the gunpoint robbery occurred at about 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Cuts Correct barbershop at 1147 East Vernon Road in the Stenton area of Philadelphia.

Police said two men, one armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, came into the barbershop at that time.

"Nobody move, get your hands out of your pockets and don't try anything," one of the men said to those in the barbershop, according to police. While he went through the victims' pockets, the other man stood as a lookout, police said.

The pair fled on foot on Vernon Road then onto the 8000 block of Fayette Street, according to police.

Police said they got away with $869 and a T-Mobile Android smartphone.

Police said no shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.

The suspects are both described as black males.

One is described as tall with a thin build and a dark complexion who was wearing a dark Nike hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers. The other was described as having a light complexion a mustache and goatee with a medium build who was wearing a gray colored Nike hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants with writing on the lower left leg, and black/white "Nike" sneakers with partial red bottoms.

The public should not approach the suspects if they are spotted and instead should call 911.
