Survey Launched On Medical Weed In Mt. Airy

Do you think it's a good idea for a medical marijuana dispensary to be in Mt. Airy? You can weigh in through a new online survey.

MT AIRY, PHILADELPHIA – As TerraVida Holistic Centers put the kibosh on their plans to open a medical marijuana dispensary in Mt. Airy recently, a Mt. Airy community group wants to hear your opinions on such a facility coming to the area.

An online survey from Go Mt. Airy is now available for residents to take regarding the possibility of a medical marijuana dispensary being in the Mt. Airy area.

The nine-item survey asks questions such as where you live, with what race you identify, and even where you think a dispensary should – or could – go in the area.

"As you are probably aware, the State of Pennsylvania has legalized the use of marijuana to treat certain health conditions," Go Mt. Airy said. "As a result, medical marijuana can be sold through dedicated retail dispensaries. These private businesses are regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and must adhere to specific requirements in order to operate.

"A medical marijuana dispensary is similar to a pharmacy. A prescription from a doctor or other health care professional is required to make a purchase, and the sale can be paid for by cash or credit card. The product is not available in any form that can be smoked and the product cannot be used on the premises.

"Several sites in Mt. Airy are being considered for a medical marijuana dispensary. We are interested in what you think about such plans."
