Suspected Bank, Store Robber Wanted By Philly Authorities

Authorities said 46-year-old Gerald "Jay" Griffith robbed a Shop Rite store in early July then robbed two banks just days later.

PHILADELPHIA – A man who has allegedly robbed two banks and a grocery store in Philadelphia is wanted by the FBI/Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force. A reward is available for information leading to his arrest and conviction.

Gerald "Jay" Griffith, 46, whose last known address is on Colonial Drive in Croydon, Bucks County, is wanted to three robberies on July 6 and July 9.

On July 6, he allegedly robbed the Shop Rite store located at 6301 Oxford Ave., police said.

The morning of July 9, he allegedly attempted to rob the BB&T Bank branch located at 6633 Roosevelt Boulevard, according to authorities.

Then about 15 minutes later, he allegedly robbed the Firstrust Bank branch located at 9309 Krewstown Road.

Griffith is also under investigation for two additional bank robberies in Philadelphia.

He stands 6 feet 3 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes, and may have a "salt & pepper" beard.

He is known to frequent Kensington Avenue, and the 4300 block of Shelmire Avenue in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Griffith is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at (215) 418-4000. There is a reward for information leading to Griffith’s capture; tipsters can remain anonymous.
