Thanksgiving Tradition Supports Local Charity

One of Philadelphia’s Oldest Turkey Trots benefits Face to Face of Germantown

WHEN Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 27, 2014

7:00 a.m. - Registration opens

9:00 a.m. – 5 Mile Race Starts – One Mile Fun Run immediately after

WHERE Forbidden Trail – Corner of Wissahickon Drive and Northwestern Avenue in Chestnut Hill, PA

WHO More than 1,000 runners and walkers

The Turkey Trot started in 1992 by the Maguire Family and Philadelphia Insurance Companies and has grown from a family tradition into a competitive 5 mile race and 1 mile fun walk for charity. Proceeds from the Turkey Trot benefit Face to Face of Germantown, a human services organization which provides free meals, nurse-managed health care, legal and social services, computer training, and children’s programming to people in need. Last year, the race drew 1,400 people and raised close to $164,000 for Face to Face. This year’s race will feature:

· Dri Fit t-shirts for participants

· Chip Timing and Mile Markers

· “Join Me” Web Tool to assist in fundraising efforts

· Staggered run start

· Post-race party at MaGerks Pub & Grill in Fort Washington
