Cranberry Art Box Cover Contest Winners Announced

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Five of the township's traffic control cabinets are about to be transformed into artistic works. The steel boxes next to traffic light poles will be covered with vinyl sheets containing the winning entries of the art box contest that was a joint project of the township and the Cranberry Artists Network.

In January, Cranberry and the artists network began soliciting ideas from artists for images which could be turned into vinyl sheets and then wrapped around utility boxes. A committee screened the 91 entries that were received.

KEYTEX Energy – a Greensburg-based consulting firm that specializes in energy management for commercial and industrial end use electricity customers across the country – sponsored the box art program. Additional sponsors will be added to the project with its expected growth.

The winning artists and the titles of their works:

• Karen Lovette – The Incline .

• Tom Panei – On a Good Note.
• Debra Tobin – Sunset on the Farm.
• Samantha Podnar – Sunset in Suburbia.
