CRANBERRY, PA — Better late than forever. Fifteen months after it was supposed to debut, The Forge Makerspace at the Cranberry Public Library will open July 29.

The Cranberry Township Community Chest's 2019 project of the year to renovate the library and add the makerspace was supposed to be completed by April 2020. That due date obviously wasn't met due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Forge Makerspace features a Cricut maker, sewing and embroidery machines, soldering stations, a laser engraver, and several 3D printers. It also comes stocked with the supplies needed to make a work of art.

Christened "The Forge" in honor of the municipal center's history, the makerspace was designed with the goal of establishing a safe, creative space to learn, create and bond with other makers.

The July 29 opening will include a private ribbon cutting ceremony and video presentation.
