Cranberry Library To Laud Volunteers

Jane Ellis, Michelle Switala winner of this year's Mazzoni Award.

CRANBERRY, PA - The Cranberry Public Library will honor two women whose longtime support of the facility have contributed to its success. Jane Ellis of Jackson Township and Michelle Switala have been named the 2017 recipients of the library’s Mazzoni Spirit of Giving Awards.

When Ellis began volunteering at the library more than 30 years ago, it was located in a small room in the old township building on Rochester Road. She began volunteering on Sundays because her husband and two sons loved watching football and she hated the sport.

Switala, a past president of the library board, helped endow a legacy fund in 2009 to benefit the library. She is a math teacher in the Pine Richland School District and was named 2010 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year.

Ellis and Switala will be recognized at an award ceremony that will be held April 18 at 7 p.m. in the library. The public is invited to attend.
