Seneca Valley Boys Lacrosse Dominates Upper St. Clair in Playoffs Victory

The team advances to semifinals and will play again Wednesday.

justified its high seeding in the Division 1 boys lacrosse playoffs with a dominating 13-5 quarterfinal victory over Upper St. Clair Wednesday night at Seneca Valley Stadium.

“I think it was our best perfornace of the year,” Seneca Valley coach said. “You could tell they had some good practices prior to the game, because it showed in their performance.”

The Raiders moved to 8-8 overall and 1-0 in the playoffs. Seneca Valley advanced to the semifinals and will play 7 p.m. next Wednesday at a site and time to be determined. The Raiders will play the winner of tonight’s Peters Township at Mt. Lebanon quarterfinal matchup, which Poillon and his coaching staff plan to watch and video.

Attacker David Hall and middie Will Koontz each scored multiple goals for the Raiders.

“Our offense moved the ball very well,” Poillon said. “They shared the ball. They communicated, ran the offense, and they were patient.”

Seneca Valley’s defense did the rest, as goalie Jake Succop held Upper St. Clair to one goal until late in the game.

“Our defense also played very well, and we only gave up one goal until late in the fourth quarter when we had a two-minute non-releasable penalty, and they had a few quick ones,” Poillon said. “Our defense played well, they were communicating and helping each other out.”

Seneca Valley defenders Luke Reed, Steven Kraynik and Will Howard all turned in strong overall performances, Poillon said.
