Seneca Valley Girls Soccer Team Ties Canon-McMillan in Double Overtime

For the second time, the Seneca Valley Lady Raiders play the Canon McMillan Lady Macs to a double overtime tie.

A non-section game between the Seneca Valley girls soccer team and the Lady Macs of Canon-McMillan ended in 1-1 tie Thursday after a showdown in double overtime.

The Raiders and Macs were well-matched on offense and defense, and there was solid passing on both teams. Although Seneca Valley would best the Macs 4-0 with shots on goal, there were no points on the board at the end of the half.

The second half was another story. Both teams came out ready to claim victory. Only seven minutes had gone by when Veronica Rothka put Canon-Mac on the scoreboard. The game became fast and physical after that, with a Canon-McMillan defender picking up a yellow card just a few minutes later.

Seneca forward Morgan Williams' goal with eight minutes left in the half tied the game. Double overtime play ended with neither team finding the net.

Final score: 1-1. Additional Images may be viewed at JimmeB Photography
