Seneca Valley Progress Reports Move to Online Format

The midpoint of the s first semester already is here, and with it comes a new way to view your student’s progress report.

When reports go out early next week they will be in a digital format. Parents may log onto classroll.com, an online portal that allows Seneca Valley parents to monitor their child’s grades, to view the report.

Traditionally, the district would print out the paper reports, use staff to stuff the grades into envelopes and then mail them to the homes of students.

“In most cases the parents would get the progress reports,” said assistant superintendent Matthew McKinley.

With the digital format, McKinley said the district is hoping to give all parents a quick and efficient look at their children’s progress without having to wait for the grades to arrive in the mail. Once the reports go live, parents will immediately be able to log on and view their children’s progress for the semester’s midpoint.

“We’re constantly thinking how we can be more efficient and do more with less,” said on Monday.

The move will save the district time and money. McKinley said the district typically spends $6,000 per year on postage stamps to mail out the reports. Because the district has utilized classroll.com for the last nine years, there was no need to purchase additional software, said Linda Andreassi, the district’s director of communications.

McKinley noted there is a small percentage of parents in the district with no computer access. Those parents may and have their children’s progress report mailed to them. Andreassi said an AlertNow notification was sent to all parents and guardians Tuesday to inform them of the new format. 

The district also is working to put the district’s report cards online.
