Spaghetti Dinner Planned to Benefit Cheyannia Marburger

The 7-year-old CVE student was diagnosed in December with an inoperable brain tumor.

Big crowds are expected Saturday for a spaghetti dinner to benefit Connoquenessing Valley Elementary student Cheyannia Marburger.

β€œSeveral businesses have flyers in their window, and we've been getting responses on Facebook,” said Carrie Mooney, a friend of Cheyannia’s mother.

The second-grader isΒ receiving radiation treatments and has not returned to school since her diagnosis.

β€œShe’s doing as OK, as well as can be expected,” Mooney said of Cheyannia.

Mooney said work friends of Deb Plaisted, Cheyannia’s mother, arranged the spaghetti dinner, which will be fromΒ 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the .

The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children younger than 10. Take-out dinnersΒ will beΒ available.

There will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffles at the event. Mooney said donations are welcome.

β€œEverybody is invited,” Mooney said. β€œWe’re trying to get the word out.”

Mooney said Plaisted, with whomΒ she grew up, has put on a brave face in the wake of Cheyannia’s diagnosis. A single mom living in Evans City, Plaisted also has two teenage children, Shayne and Sammi. Mooney said the teens have been a big help to their mother. Β Β 

β€œThe older kids have been just wonderful,” Mooney said.

Tickets will be available at the door before the dinner. All proceeds benefit Cheyannia’s family.
