View Finder: The Sweet Sound of Music

The Seneca Valley Marching Band had its annual pie festival Tuesday.

With everything from cherry to peach to shoofly pie, s cafeteria turned into dessert heaven Tuesday as had its annual pie festival.

Band mom Donna McDermott, who organized this year’s event, said the is one of the band’s biggest fundraisers. The proceeds from the event will help pay for this year’s band trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

McDermott, who has a son and daughter in the band, said the students are excited to march at the happiest place on earth, and she’s excited to watch them. McDermott said she plans to accompany the band on their trip.

β€œI’m very excited to see my kids march down Main Street,” she said.

ForΒ $4, attendees could eat as much pie as they wanted. Whole pies also were sold at the cafeteria. Once they had their fill of sweets, everyone was invited to watch a preview of the Raiders 2011-12 halftime show at NexTier Stadium.

This year’s senior students from theΒ  were recognized at the show. The band numbers wereΒ jazz standards, including the hits β€œDon’t Get Around Much Anymore,” β€œMoonglow” and β€œNutville.”
