Public Meeting Next Week to Address #1 Cochran Plans

Representatives from the #1 Cochran Automotive Group will discuss the business’s plans for West Liberty Avenue and take questions from Dormont residents during a special public meeting next Monday, Feb. 13.

President Bill McCartney said representatives from #1 Cochran, including the developer and Allegheny County officials, would attend. The meeting would be good for both sides, he said.

“We need to know their vision,” he said. “We also need to start to formulate our vision of what we want the borough to be in the next 10, 15 or 20 years.”

A 30 to 45 minute formal presentation will be given by #1 Cochran representatives, followed by a question-and-answer session.

McCartney encouraged residents at Monday’s council meeting to submit questions regarding #1 Cochran’s plans before Feb. 13. He said that way, there would be a better chance that all questions would be answered.

“Part of our problem, I think, is that we all have visions, but often times they compete,” McCartney said. “So we all think we’re doing good, which we all are, but we’re all in competition in some way or another.”

McCartney said he hoped everyone in the borough could come together over the next year to help resolve not only concerns about #1 Cochran, but several issues within the borough.

The special meeting with #1 Cochran will be held Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the recreation center. Residents should submit questions to borough secretary Vickie McGurk at Vickie@boro.dormont.pa.us.
