13 Trucks Taken Off The Roads During Safety Detail In New Britain Twp.

The commercial vehicle safety inspections were conducted on the Route 202 Business Corridor and on Bristol Road in the township.

NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — A Motor Carrier Safety Detail in New Britain Township last Wednesday took 13 trucks off the roads, including one being operated by a driver who had alcohol in his system.

The safety detail, conducted by the New Britain Township Police Department and the Central Bucks Motor Carrier Safety Enforcement Team, targeted commercial motor vehicles in the U.S. 202 Business corridor and on Bristol Road.

During the detail, 17 commercial motor vehicles were inspected. Of these, three had no violations. The remaining 14 were cited for various issues.

Investigators discovered 63 violations resulting in 13 trucks being placed out of service. Five of those vehicles were placed out of service for mechanical and securement defects. Additionally, eight drivers were placed out of service, including one who was operating a loaded tractor-trailer and was found to have alcohol in their system.

As a result of the inspections, authorities issued 10 citations. They also wrote 53 warnings for drivers and companies for less severe infractions.
