150th Annual Doylestown Memorial Day Parade Set For May 28

The Doylestown Memorial Day Parade — the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the U.S. — will celebrate its 150th anniversary this year. Details:

The annual Memorial Parade will be held May 28 in Doylestown Borough. The 2018 parade is special: it's the 150th anniversary of the event, which is the oldest Memorial Day Parade in the United States.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. and will travel along W. Court Street, beginning at Central Bucks West High School to Clinton Street. From there, it will go onto State Street to Main Street, turning onto E. Court Street to the conclusion at the Doylestown Cemetery, where a 30-minute ceremony will be held.

There are some parking restrictions planned that day. Parking will be prohibited on both sides of W. Court Street between Lafayette and Clinton Streets beginning at 6 a.m. the day of the parade. "The restriction will be enforced on both sides of E. Court Street between Main Street and East Street," Central Bucks Police said in an announcement.

Residents are asked to make arrangements for alternative parking during that day "to allow for a safe and fun-filled event for both participants and spectators."

According to information from Doylestown Borough, the parade in 2017 attracted more than 15,000 spectators and more than 1,700 participants.
