2 Storm Systems Will Bring Heavy Rain, Cold Front: Forecasters

The first of the storms arrives Friday afternoon/evening. Forecasters are eyeing another system early next week.

A storm system that will move across the region Friday could dump heavy rain on the Philadelphia region, and could lead to flooding in some areas, according to forecasters. The rain is expected to start in the afternoon and pick up in intensity as the day goes on. A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued.

Rain should ease up by 11 p.m., with some lingering showers anticipated overnight. Up to 1.5 inches of rain could fall, according to AccuWeather predictions.

By Saturday, skies will clear but it will be chilly and windy. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are possible.

The storm will bring with it some chillier air, too. "After being in the 50s in Philadelphia on Friday, temperatures will drop to the middle 40s during the weekend," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Mike Doll.

The National Weather Service predicts a frost overnight from Saturday to Sunday could be the first killing frost for most areas of Eastern Pennsylvania. The low temperature will be in the mid to upper 20s in the Philadelphia region overnight.

That storm isn't the only one forecasters are watching.

Another system expected to arrive Monday into Tuesday will bring rain to the Philadelphia region and even snow and wintry mix to areas north, including the Poconos.

"Another storm is poised to affect the Midwest and Northeast with rain and snow early next week," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski. "At this time it looks as though that storm will track far enough to the west to bring rain to the Atlantic seaboard from Washington, D.C to New York City and Boston."
