44 Nodes Proposed On Doylestown Borough Utility Poles, Community Meeting Scheduled

A community meeting has been scheduled to let residents know about a proposal for "Distributed Antenna System" nodes around the borough.

DOYLESTOWN, PA -- A community information session has been scheduled to let residents know about an application to install nodes for a "Distributed Antenna System" throughout Doylestown Borough, officials said Tuesday.

According to information from Doylestown Borough, a proposal by Crown Castle LLC to install 44 nodes on existing and proposed utility poles was denied because the plan did not comply with the borough's zoning ordinance. The applicant has since appealed the borough's denial and will go to the Zoning Hearing Board for relief.

Ahead of the zoning hearings, a community information session on the proposal will be held. That meeting is set for Tuesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. at Lenape Middle School, 313 West State Street.

Distributed Antenna System nodes are "cylinder-shaped broadband antennae that are smaller and have lesser coverage area than typical, large towers you are familiar with," according to information from Doylestown Borough.

"The intent of these nodes is to supplement and enhance existing broadband coverage, in this case on behalf of Verizon," the borough said.
