Here are five outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the Doylestown area:

1. Travis Manion Foundation: The Travis Manion Foundation empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. TMF was founded in 2007 following the death of 1st Lt Travis Manion (USMC) who was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans and families of fallen heroes continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives.

2. Bucks County Opportunity Council. The Bucks County Opportunity Council is the lead anti-poverty organization in Bucks County providing for 70 plus food banks in the county; assistance for low-income families with evictions and utility shutoffs; individualized coaching to help build the resources for economic stability; free income tax preparation assistance; and reduced energy bills for those in need.

3. Main St. (formerly Pine2Pink): The funds raised by Main St. benefit breast cancer patients at Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham, Grand View Health, Doylestown Health and Kin Wellness and Support Center through programs such as food assistance, cold capping, integrative services, counseling and therapy, out-of-pocket expenses, treatment transportation, comfort bags and treatment center support and improvements.

4. Bucks For Kids: Bucks For Kids raises money to meet the extra needs of foster children and teens in the care of the Bucks County Children & Youth Social Services Agency.

5. Doylestown Fire Company. Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 is an all-volunteer force based in
Doylestown Borough. The fire company's mission is to provide excellent fire, rescue, prevention, and public education services to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
