6 Fun Things To Do In Bucks County This Weekend

Concert Under the Stars with fireworks, "Monuments and Myths" exhibit opens, and the return of the Paranormal Cirque at Neshaminy.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Welcome to the last weekend in June and it’s going to be a big one, packed with fun things to do as we get ready to celebrate the nation’s birthday next week.

To set the mood, the Riverside Symphonia will present its annual Concert Under the Stars Saturday night capped off by a patriotic fireworks display at Tinicum Park.

Make it an evening by packing a picnic dinner to enjoy before the concert. It can be as simple as sandwiches and chips to a multi-course meal. And after dinner, sit back, relax and enjoy the music and the fireworks.

Something else to do over the weekend - if you dare - is the paranormal cirque at the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem. The cirque is "a crazy yet fun fusion between circus, theatre, and cabaret in perfect harmony with the evolution of a show that brings you back to when we dream ... and when we had nightmares and fantasies."

For art lovers, this weekend brings the opening of a new exhibit - Monuments and Myths - at the Michener Museum in Doylestown. The exhibit celebrates the works of renowned 19th and early 20th-century sculptors Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Daniel Chester French.

French is best known for his 1920 monumental statue of Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. while Saint-Gaudens achieved major critical success for his monuments commemorating heroes of the American Civil War, many of which still stand.

Staying with the theme of art, the Stover Mill in Erwinna will open a new show this weekend - "A Duet of Color" - featuring the works of artists Cindy Ruenes and Kathie Jankauskas.In the show, the artists embark on a visual journey where they creatively blend a variety of mediu ms - oil, cold wax, and mixed media.

And if you’re longing for the shore but just can’t find the time to break away, you’re in luck in one regard. The sand is coming to Bucks County in the form of giant-sized sand castle creations at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska. “Summer in the Sand” brings a tatste of the shore to Bucks with works created by two world-renowned master sand sculpting teams: John Gowdy and Team Sandtastic.

Symphonia To Celebrate The Fourth With Fireworks, Patriotic Pops

The Bucks County Fourth of July celebration starts with a bang when the Riverside Symphonia
presents a "Concert Under The Stars" and fireworks on Saturday, June 29 beginning at 8 p.m. at Tinicum Park on River Road in Erwinna. This year the Symphonia presents a combination of pops, movie score classics and patriotic music, followed by a fireworks finale under the stars on
the banks of the Delaware River. Bring tables, chairs and a picnic supper to enjoy before the concert. Gates open at 6 p.m. for picnickers. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Paranormal Cirque Returns To Neshaminy Mall

The Circus has returned once again to the Neshaminy Mall although a little earlier than last year. Paranormal Cirque III is bringing its "R-Rated Horror Show" for six performances, with shows running through Sunday. Performances last about two hours. Save $5 per ticket! USE PROMO CODE: FACE50FF. "Monuments and Myths" Exhibit Opens At The Michener

"Monuments and Myths: The America of Sculptors Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Daniel Chester French" opens Saturday, June 29 and continues through January 5, 2025 at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown. This is the first exhibition to explore the intersecting careers and significance of two of America’s most preeminent sculptors of the Gilded Age. Daniel Chester French (1850–1931) and Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1848–1907) were friends and sometimes rivals who transformed sculpture in the United States. They produced dozens of the nation’s most
recognizable public artworks, including French’s "Seated Abraham Lincoln" in the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. and Saint-Gaudens’s "Diana," which graced the top of Madison Square Garden in New York. Click here to read more.

Artists Present "A Duet Of Color" At Stover Mill Gallery

Artists Cindy Ruenes and Kathie Jankauskas will be showing their art at the Stover Mill Gallery in a show entitled "A Duet of Color." The exhibit will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday during the last weekend in June and every weekend in July with an opening reception from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. In the show, the artists embark on a visual journey where they creatively blend a variety of mediums - oil, cold wax, and mixed media. Inspired by Bucks County, Maine, Italy and nature, their harmonious art captures the essence of landscapes, flowers, veggies, and animals. The historic Stover Mill Gallery is located along the banks of theDelaware River, 852 River Road, Erwinna 18920. The gallery is handicapped accessible. Admission is free. "Summer In The Sand" Pops Up At Peddler's Village

For the third consecutive year, Peddler’s Village will host a summer-long display of large sand sculptures — this time as a summer surprise for guests. Free and open to the public from now through August 31, "Summer in Sand" showcases five incredible sand sculptures depicting favorite summer activities: watching baseball, camping, embarking on an overseas adventure, playing games and solving puzzles, and lounging at the seashore. Warminster Symphony Orchestra In Summer Pops Performance

The Warminster Symphony Orchestra’s Annual Summer Pops Concert —presented by Warminster Township Parks and Recreation —will take place at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at the Hallowell Pavilion in Warminster Community Park. The performance will be led by conductor Joe Lovecchio. “Warminster Township Parks and Recreation is thrilled to continue the tradition of Music in the Park featuring the Warminster Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Pops ensemble," said Jessica Fox, director of the parks and recreation department.
