Bucks Co.'s First Medical Marijuana Dispensary Opens This Week

Bucks County's first medical marijuana dispensary will open this week in Sellersville.

According to an announcement, TerraVida Holistic Center will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. TerraVida is located at 64 N. Main Street, Sellersville.

Patients who want to access medical marijuana must obtain a physician's certification from an approved doctor proving that they suffer from one of 17 serious medical conditions. A registration process is then required for patients to receive a medical marijuana card, allowing them access to state-licensed dispensaries.

According to its website, TerraVida is owned by Adina Birnbaum and Christina Visco, who have more than 80 combined years in retail and customer service. "They have employed the most talented pool of pharmaceutical professionals, community and veterans services professionals ensuring the most positive patient experience in the area," the website says.

TerraVida also plans to open dispensaries in Abington and Malvern.

The state's medical marijuana program was signed into law in April 2016. Full implementation of the program, including the approval of more locations to sell to patients, is expected at some point in 2018.

Another dispensary is set to open in Bucks County this year. Franklin BioScience will be located on Durham Road in Bristol. According to information on the company's website, that dispensary will open in March.
