Bucks County Book Fest Is This Weekend: See Schedule Of Events
The first-ever Bucks County Book Fest will almost 50 authors participating in dozens of events throughout the weekend.

The inaugural Bucks County Book Festival will be held this weekend — Oct. 13 and 14 — in Doylestown. The event will almost 50 authors participating in dozens of events throughout the weekend.

Saturday, October 13

- The fun starts on Saturday, October 13 at 9 a.m. when the Children’s Festival kicks off at the Doylestown Fire Company during its Fire Prevention Open House. Young readers ages 4 to 12, and their families, will meet authors and illustrators, play games, and enjoy arts and crafts activities. Children will be able to see fire trucks, meet fire fighters, and see fire safety equipment demonstrations. This event is free.
- Writers at all levels of their craft will find community, professional advice, and strategies for getting published at the Writer’s Workshop that will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the James-Lorah House. Tickets are $30 and include all three morning sessions. Workshop sessions are led by professional writers, a certified personal/professional coach, and a literary agent/author. Participants will learn techniques to kick start creativity, how to deal their personal “saboteurs”, and will get insider’s tips from a New York literary agent.
- Saturday’s events also include two Keynote Events by nationally-known authors. Michael Buckley, the New York Times bestselling author of the Sisters Grimm and NERDS series will be at the Doylestown Fire Company from 11 to noon. Tickets are $35, each ticket admits one adult and one child, and comes with a copy of Sisters Grimm and a copy of NERDS
- Floyd Cooper, whose latest book is Sisters and Champions: The True Story of Venus and Serena Williams, will be Doylestown Fire Company from 1 to 2 p.m. Tickets are $35, each ticket admits one adult and one child, and comes with a copy of Sisters & Champions.
Sunday, October 14
- Sunday’s events run from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and take place under tents in the Hamilton Street parking lot between State and Oakland streets. Adults and teens can meet authors, enjoy free author panels, purchase books, and get books signed.
- Author panels will be led by moderators who will engage two to five authors in conversation about writing, books, and topics including: sci-fi/fantasy, sports, cooking, fiction, history, young adult literature, book cover design and illustration; film, and more. Each panel will end with a question and answer session and a book signing. Click here for a list of authors participating in the panels.
- Book Fest attendees can also visit a vendor area where self-published authors, professional literary groups, area non-profits, and others can reach out to visitors. In addition, they can purchase the 2018 Bucks County Book Festival poster created by Bucks County Artist in Residence Alan Fetterman.
- At 6 p.m. Sunday, the final Keynote Event will take place when author Chris Hedges will be in conversation with WHYY’s Tracey Matisak. Tracey will interview Chris, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, about his newest book, America: The Farewell Tour, a provocative examination of America in crisis. Chris will offer his thoughts on current politics and global issues and share his opinions on fixing crucial problems in American society. Tickets to this event are $42, admit one adult, and include a copy of the book America: The Farewell Tour. This event will take place at Central Bucks High School West auditorium.
