DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Doylestown Township Police handled 847 incidents during January. There were 59 traffic accidents investigated. Police issued 44 traffic citations, 166 traffic warnings, and six non-traffic citations.

Assault

  • Police handled two domestic-related assaults, a late report of a juvenile fight on New Year's Eve, and multiple threat complaints.

  • On January 22, officers were called to Grundy Hall for the theft of an automobile by a known acquaintance. The vehicle was recovered, and a 58-year-old man was arrested in Philadelphia.

Criminal Mischief

  • On January 3, the driver of a Jeep Wrangler was caught on video trespassing after hours, driving around the fields and woods at Fonthill Museum.
  • On January 5, a township tree grinder on the New Britain Road side of Central Park was damaged by an unknown person.
  • On January 6, a vehicle parked at the Whole Foods Market was damaged by an unknown suspect. Two tires were slashed and a long gouge mark was found on the passenger side.

  • On January 4, police were called to Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital for a subject in the ER lobby who was causing a disturbance while intoxicated.
  • On January 20, police were called to Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital for an unruly patient in the ER. Officers verbally de-escalated and helped the patient get treatment.

Driving Under the Influence

  • On January 10, a 36-year-old woman was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop for swerving on S. Easton Road near New Britain Road.
  • On January 10, a 57-year-old man was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop for failing to stop at the stop sign at Burpee Road and Commons Way.
  • On January 23, a 40-year-old woman was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop for speeding on Route 611 Bypass.

Fraud

  • On January 21, a resident discovered a check that had been mailed via USPS was stolen and used to forge other checks. The resident was refunded by their bank.
  • Thanks to savvy residents, there were only seven reports of fraud in January. All attempted scams or unauthorized transactions were reversed by financial institutions.

Narcotics Offenses

  • On January 8, a vehicle was stopped for speeding on Route 202 Parkway. A 30-year-old man was found to be in possession of marijuana.
  • On January 28, officers took custody of marijuana paraphernalia after employees at Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital located it on a patient.

Theft

  • On January 29, a brand-new snow blower was reported stolen from the driveway of a home in the 900 block of Pebble Hill Road.

Miscellaneous

  • On January 2, an unauthorized person was caught on video dumping several pieces of furniture into a dumpster at the Commerce Center. The 61-year-old man was identified, and he worked with the employees at the Commerce Center to pay for the trash removal.
  • On January 3, officers arrested a 43-year-old man for Indirect Criminal Contempt-Violation of a PFA order.
  • On January 8, officers were called to the Weis Market to issue a citation for the sale of tobacco products to a minor. Prevention Specialists with the Council of SE Pennsylvania conducted an audit at the store and discovered non-compliance.
