CB East Patriot Players Bringing Rock Opera 'Joseph' To The Stage

The production has a special tie to the original show. The CB East director is a cousin of the original narrator, the late Laurie Beechman.

Central Bucks East Patriot Players will present the beloved rock opera “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” from March 27-29 at the school, with three performances scheduled over the weekend.

The show, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, retells the biblical story from the Book of Genesis following Joseph from favored son and envied brother in Canaan to powerful dreamer and leader in Egypt. With a mix of styles and songs, the production includes songs such as “Any Dream Will Do” and “Go, Go, Go Joseph."

The cast includes Santiago Zarate Martinez as Joseph, Dylan Hargrove as the Pharaoh, and Hailey Dent, Emery Foster, Sarah MacLean, and Jill Smith as the narrators. They are supported by an energetic ensemble and talented student technical crew.

Special Connection To The Show

Sasha Eisenberg, the director of the CB East Patriot Players, has a special connection to the show. She is a cousin of the original narrator, the late Laurie Beechman. Laurie received a Tony nomination for her captivating performance as the narrator in the original 1982 Broadway cast of "Joseph."

Additional starring roles in Cats, Les Misérables, and The Pirates of Penzance earned Laurie a place among Broadway’s most beloved leading ladies. Her luminous talent, powerful voice, and commanding stage presence left an indelible mark on Broadway. Laurie’s life was tragically cut short by ovarian cancer.

Performances are Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. All tickets are $15 ($10 for students/seniors) and are available through PurplePass: purplepass.com/events/336664-joseph-and-the-amazing-technicolor-dreamcoat.
