Central Bucks Administrator Is PA's National Distinguished Principal
Simon Butler Elementary School Principal Joseph Brereton has been chosen as Pennsylvania's 2016 National Distinguished Principal.

Simon Butler Elementary School Principal Joseph Brereton has been chosen as Pennsylvania’s 2016 National Distinguished Principal, the Central Bucks School District announced this week.
One principal from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia was chosen by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
"Over the past several months, Mr. Brereton completed a rigorous application and interview process, and was selected as a state finalist. A committee then conducted a site visit at Butler Elementary School. The visit included classroom observations and interviews with community leaders, parents, teachers, and students. Following the committee’s review, Mr. Brereton received word that he was selected as Pennsylvania’s National Distinguished Principal," the district said in an announcement.

“This is another example of the quality of leader we have in Central Bucks.” said Superintendent David Weitzel.
The National Distinguished Principals program recognizes elementary and middle level principals who set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and climate for the students, families, and staffs in their learning communities.

A Distinguished Principal must “demonstrate evidence of outstanding contributions to the community and to the education profession. [This administrator] should lead a school that is: clearly committed to excellence; has programs designed to meet the academic and social needs of all students; and has firm ties to parents and the community," the district said.
“This is quite an honor for Mr. Brereton, Butler Elementary School, and the entire Central Bucks School District,” said Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education David Bolton.
Brereton will be honored along with winners from each state in Washington, DC in early October, the district said.
