DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Central Bucks School District announced on Monday afternoon that schools are scheduled to open on Tuesday, Feb. 24, on a two-hour delay.

School was closed today for a flexible learning day following the overnight snowstorm.

"Our incredible facilities, grounds, and transportation crews have been clearing district roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, and buses all day today," said Interim Superintendent Dr. Charles Malone in an email to parents and guardians. "We applaud and appreciate their efforts. There has been a lot of snow and ice to remove this year, and they’ve done a remarkable job."

He continued, "Because of their dedication, our buildings and campuses are in good shape. A delay will provide added daylight and time for re-salting and clean-up, as well as more time for our students and families to safely get to school."

According to Malone, the district will continue to monitor conditions overnight and will communicate through its usual channels by 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 24 if circumstances change.

"We are also aware of forecasts calling for varying degrees of wintry precipitation later this week, including the potential for more snow, which could further impact school and event schedules," he wrote. "Please keep an eye out for emails and texts from us as we navigate this week’s weather. I think it's safe to say that Punxsutawney Phil was right this year!"
