Customers Flock to Support Chick-fil-A
Local supporters of the restaurant chain at the center of a gay marriage debate turned out for "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," while gay rights supporters are planning "Chick-fil-A Same Sex Kiss Day" on Friday.
Cars lined up on Rt. 611 south of Doylestown on Wednesday, waiting to turn into the Warrington location of Chick-fil-A.
And in Quakertown Wednesday night, police had to direct traffic at the Chick-fil-A restaurant there because the place was so packed.

Wednesday was "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," promoted by former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee. On his Facebook page, Huckabee said it was not a protest but was an affirmation.
According to the Huffington Post, Huckabee said, “The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick-fil-A on Wednesday, August 1.”

The day of action was called in response to criticism of president Dan Cathy's statement that his company supports "the Biblical definition of the family unit." The Atlanta-based company also has come under fire for its donations to anti-gay groups.
On Monday, LGBT Weekly reported that Philadelphia City Councilman James Kenney sent a letter to the company’s president telling him that Chick-fil-A is not welcome in the City of Brotherly Love. Kenney also vowed in the letter to introduce a resolution at the next City Council meeting that will condemn the company.
Meanwhile, supporters of gay rights have organized National Same Sex Kiss Day at Chick-fil-A restaurants on Friday, August 3.
