Doylestown Architect and Painter Passes Away at 80
Robert Allen Kear, a known Doylestown architect and painter, died at home on January 3, 2016 at the age of 80.

Robert (Bob) Allen Kear, a known Doylestown architect and painter, died at home on January 3, 2016 at the age of 80.
Born in Danville, Pennsylvania he was the son of late Edward and Elizabeth (Yerrick) Kear.Bob was educated at Penn State University and the University of Oregon and served in the U.S. Army. He began his career as an architect at Kling Partners. After becoming a partner at Kling, Bob left to establish his own firm, Robert Allen Kear & Associates in Doylestown.

His architectural contributions ranged from large national projects such as Xerox and Monsanto to regional buildings on the campus of St. Joseph’s University to local buildings such as the Doylestown Agricultural Works and The Market Way. Bob was committed to preserving the architectural esthetic of the Doylestown community.
As an active member of the community, he was often called upon to provide insight on new projects in Doylestown, such as the courthouse. He also served as a member of the Doylestown Historical Society. Bob was a fine artist and spent his leisure hours painting Bucks County landscapes.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Kear) Bauman; his sons: Scott, Gregory and Bradford, their spouses; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren, as well as former wife, Lois (McCreary) Kear. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward (Bud) Kear.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the James-Lorah House, 132 N. Main Street, Doylestown, PA. Interment will be private.
