Doylestown Borough Has New Parking Meters: What You Need To Know
You might notice the parking meters look different in Doylestown. Here's what you need to know about the new smart meters.

Smart Meters have arrived in Doylestown.
Approximately 400 new parking meters have been installed in the borough. The new meters accept quarters, credit or debit cards. A pay-by-phone application will be available soon.
The move to implement new "smart" meters was part of a series of recommendations issued last year by the borough's Parking Meter Study Committee.

Officials believe the new meters will provide for a "convenient, user-friendly parking experience with a variety of payment options, making it easier to find a space, and decreasing the number of citations issued through increased compliance with time limits," according to information from the borough.
The times you'll need to pay the meter remain the same: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays.

However, parking meter rates are increasing to $1 per hour (or $.25 for 15 minutes) at the three-hour limit meters and to $.50 per hour at the 10-hour limit meters. It's the first price increase in over 30 years, the borough says. The cost of the six-month permits will remain at $50.
Additionally, the borough has contracted with United Public Safety of Horsham to upgrade its enforcement technology. The handwritten tickets will be replaced with print tickets, which will be payable online as well as in person or by mail.
The borough will continue to offer 15-minute free parking spaces at more than a dozen locations downtown.
