Doylestown Features Heavily in HBO's "The Gilded Age"
HBO's "The Gilded Age" main characters leave their lives in Doylestown for the big city in late 1800's New York

Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle aren't Doylestown's only claims to turn-of-the-century romanticism.
HBO's The Gilded Age, which premiered Monday night on HBO, follows two families, their friends, and business associates from Doylestown to New York City as they navigate a rapidly changing culture in the late 1800s.
"The Gilded Age's principal heroine, Marian Brook, moves from Doylestown, Pennsylvania to New York City to live with her estranged aunts, Agnes and Ada, after her father’s death," notes Primetimer.

Scenes portraying Doylestown were shot in Newport, RI, which also doubles as some of New York City, as well as itself throughout the series.
For example, Newport mansion Hunter House served as the filming location for the fictional Doylestown office of lawyer Tom Raikes.

Screenrant noted The Gilded Age "is set in the same world as Downton Abbey," and the breadth of experience of the actors: "The cast consists of actors that have found success in a variety of entertainment venues. Many of the actors are Tony Award winners, while others have cemented themselves on the silver screen and the small screen. Still, some are newcomers looking forward to making their big debut in one of the most highly anticipated television series of the year."
