Doylestown Snow Updates: Nearly 6K In Doylestown Without Power

As predicted, heavy snow has moved into the area. The snow has covered roads and is only expected to continue for several hours. Forecasters say since it is a heavy, wet snow, it could cause widespread power outages just days after Friday's storm knocked out electricity for thousands.

  • Widespread power outages are being reported in Doylestown borough and township. As of just before 3 p.m., 2,769 Doylestown Township residents have no power, and 2,864 Doylestown Borough residents are without power.Total outages in Bucks County are nearing 24,000.   • Doylestown Township Police said road conditions are terrible. "Please stay off the roads," police said via Facebook just before 3:30 p.m. "The snow has caused terrible visibility and the roads are completely covered. Road crews are working around the clock and tow trucks are backed up with disabled vehicles and crashes."
  • Police in Warrington Township are reporting heavy snow conditions and deteriorating road conditions. The police have closed Easton Road at County Line Road due to a jackknifed tractor trailer and other disabled vehicles. "One tractor trailer is jack-knifed, multiple others cannot make it up the hill. Please avoid this intersection and try and stay off the roads during these almost whiteout conditions," Warrington Police said.
  • A Snow Emergency is in effect in Doylestown Borough. However, local officials just announced there are a number of vehicles hindering snow removal operations by parking on posted Snow Emergency Routes. Central Bucks Regional Police are "actively enforcing" these parking restrictions, the borough announced via Facebook. "If you are parked on a Snow Emergency Route, remove your vehicle or you will be towed."
  • Shortly before noon, Doylestown Township announced roads are being cleared but remain very slippery. "Please avoid traveling if at all possible. Storm is still expected to last into the evening hours."
  • Buckingham Township Police are also advising residents to avoid travel.
  • A tractor trailer skidded on the slippery surface of Rt. 413 in Buckingham township Wednesday morning, blocking the road.
  • A Snow Emergency is in effect in Solebury Township until noon Thursday. While a declared Snow Emergency is in effect, you cannot park on any portion of the public roadway. In addition, it is unlawful to operate any motor vehicle on any public roadway unless it has adequate equipment to provide sufficient traction to stay in motion, Solebury Police said.
  • The New Hope Eagle Firehouse is open until 9 p.m. as a warming station for those without power. Bathroom facilities and electronic charging stations will be available at the firehouse, located at 46 North Sugan Road.
  • SEPTA has altered its regional rail schedule for Wednesday, and several delays are already being reported. Click here for the latest on delays along the Doylestown line.
  • Pennsylvania is under a state of emergency, and unnecessary travel is not advised.

  • The PA Turnpike has announced restrictions on empty, straight CDL weighted trucks, large combination vehicles, tractors hauling empty trailers, trailers pulled by passenger vehicles, motorcycles and RVs on I-76 between Harrisburg and Valley Forge and I-276 between Valley Forge and New Jersey and Pa. Turnpike I-476 between Mid County and Clarks Summit.
