Lt. Edwin Fretz, 104th Union Officer as portrayed by
Dick Neddenriep.
A native of Doylestown, Lt Fretz served with the 104th PA Vol. Infantry Regiment which was made up primarily of Bucks County recruits. Lt. Fretz participated in many civil war campaigns with the regiment. Both before and after the war, he was employed as a printer by W.W.H. Davis, editor and owner of the local Doylestown Democrat. Davis also served as the regiment’s commanding colonel. Edwin Fretz is buried in Doylestown Cemetery.
