First-Ever Broad Commons Egg Hunt Sends Kids Scrambling In Doylestown

The event brought hundreds to the park for a morning of Easter weekend fun that included age-group hunts, music, Kona Ice, and more.

DOYLESTOWN, PA - Thousands of eggs added splashes of color to the lawn at Broad Commons Park Saturday morning setting the stage for Doylestown Borough’s first-ever egg hunt.

The event brought hundreds to the park at Doyle and North Broad Streets for a morning of Easter weekend fun that included a series of age-group hunts that sent kids scrambling across the lawn with baskets and bags in hand.

The borough’s first-ever Easter Egg hunt at Broad Commons Park also included music by the Nook Nook Music School, arts and crafts, bubble fun, and Kona Ice.

The event kicked off with the arrival of the Easter Bunny riding aboard a Doylestown fire truck. With sirens wailing, the truck pulled up in front of the park as youngsters strained to get a look at the bunny of the hour.

While a persistent chilly wind blew through the park, the joy on the faces of the kids warmed the heart, said Caitlin Hernandez, the borough’s recreation department's special events coordinator.

“The reaction to the bunny was great, but the best part was seeing the kids smiling,” said Hernandez. “It’s a great turnout for the first year. We’re very happy.”

Hernandez gave special thanks to event sponsors Busy Bee Toys, Class-Harlan Real Estate, and The Learning Experience for making the hunt possible.

She also expressed appreciation to the borough’s Public Works department, the Doylestown Fire Company No. 1, the Central Bucks Regional Police Department, Nook Nook Music School, Kona Ice of Doylestown, Philly Fairy Hair, the Parks and Recreation Board, and Doylestown Borough Council.

Mayor Noni West watched the Easter excitement spread through the crowd, first with the arrival of the Easter bunny and then as the children scrambled across the commons.

“It’s fabulous. And what’s really wonderful is that the park is being used by the community,” said the may“And the kids, they’re just in heaven out there collecting the eggs. The Easter bunny, the music, the fun and games - the whole atmosphere is just amazing.”
