Fitzpatrick Pushing For Senate Vote on Sex Predator Bill
The Protecting Students from Sexual and Violent Predators Act passed the House last year.

Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8) on Tuesday joined a group of lawmakers and advocates pushing for the Senate to vote on legislation that aims to prevent sexual predators from working in schools.
The Protecting Students from Sexual and Violent Predators Act, which passed the House last year, requires schools to perform background checks on all new and existing employees. It also prevents schools from hiring anyone who has been convicted of violent or sexual crimes against a child.
“The Protecting Students from Sexual and Violent Predators Act passed the House unanimously last October, and I am confident that it will be met with strong bipartisan support on the Senate floor. It’s time for the Senate to act.”

Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey, who introduced the Senate version of the bill, also spoke at Tuesday’s event.
“As our children are going back to school, it is time for the Senate to act to keep our kids safe,” Toomey urged.
