It's official: Giant will be opening at the former Redner's on Rt. 611. The supermarket chain made the announcement Tuesday, saying it will be one of six new stores opening in the region.

The new Giant store, at 1661 Easton Road, will open in early 2019 and will replace the existing location on York Road in Jamison. Giant also has plans to remodel two locations as part of a $70 million growth plan.

Redner's closed at the end of March, after the property owner presented an offer to terminate its lease early. There was significant speculation around town about what was going to replace it.
