Guidance Counselor Should Be Fired for Facebook Post: CB Administration
The Central Bucks School Board is expected to vote on a recommendation to fire MaryKate Blankenburg during a meeting Tuesday.

The Central Bucks School Board on Tuesday will consider a recommendation to fire a guidance counselor who made controversial comments on Facebook last month, according to reports.
The board will vote on the administration’s recommendation to fire MaryKate Blankenburg during a meeting that starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to The Intelligencer.
On Dec. 7, Blankenburg, a guidance counselor at Central Bucks West High School, posted the following statement to her Facebook account:

“If my child cannot get to the Eagles game due to protestors, I will personally SHOOT every one of them. You’ve been warned idiots!!”
The post was then shared on Twitter by a user with this caption: “#guidancecounselor threatens to kill #FergusonPHL protestors after #eagles game.” An online firestorm and the subsequent investigation followed.

Blankenburg was placed on administrative leave. The Intelligencer reported her pay was suspended on Dec. 10.
A few weeks later, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said the post was “inappropriate” and “ill-advised” but not criminal and no charges were filed. Blankenburg lives in Montgomery County, which is why the matter was investigated there.
The post was referring to a ”die in” protest after the Eagles game in response to recent grand jury decisions against indicting white police officers in the deaths of two black men.
